Videos, pictures, Derby rules

Thanks to everyone in Den 6 for making our December pack event a success. A highlight of the evening was watching the top three popcorn sellers hit committee members in the face with a pie. You can see video of the three pie-throwers in action below.

If you did not get your Pinewood Derby car from your den leader, please contact them for your kit. If you did not get a copy of the Derby Guidelines, you can download them here.

Popcorn! December Pack meeting!

Our awesome Popcorn Kernel shared this photo of his garage at popcorn pick up time:

We hope your scout has received all of his popcorn and is busy delivering it and collecting payment.

Please note that we’ve changed the date of our December pack meeting from Saturday to Thursday, December 15. Details are as follows:

The December Pack Event will be held on Thursday December 15 th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Farms Intermediate’s multi purpose room (581 Taylor Road Brighton, MI 48114). This will be, for lack of a better term, a normal indoor pack meeting with a community service theme. We are asking that people bring donations for a local animal shelter i.e. unopened food, bedding (new or used blankets, towels, etc…), or toys. We will start with a flag ceremony, there will be a Christmas Carol sing along led by Den 6, then den awards, followed by Elder-Beerman and popcorn awards, a small service projects for the dens to work on, then the closing flag ceremony. We will most likely be requesting some other items from the dens as well, I will get that information out as soon as I can.

Fundraising is underway!

This is a busy time of year for our Pack in terms of fundraising. We’re currently selling Scouts popcorn door-to-door and at the Wal-Mart in Howell. We have a few time slots still available that can be reserved here:

Show & Sell at Wal-Mart

We’re also selling coupon books for Elder-Beerman’s Community Day sale in November. These time slots can be reserved here:

Elder-Beerman fundraising

Elder Beerman fundraiser

Last year was our first year taking part in the Elder Beerman
fundraiser. Elder Beerman (a department store in Howell) lets us sell
coupon books for their big sale in the days and weeks leading up to
the sale. We get a certain amount for each book sold and if we sell
enough books, we get a percentage of their sales on the day of the
sale.

We can have two scouts at a time in the store selling books. Since we
earned a great deal of money for the pack last time, Dawn Newman has
reserved even more slots for us this year.

Here are the time slots we need to fill (with 2 scouts for each slot):

Friday 20-Aug 6-8 p.m
Saturday 21-Aug 2-4 p.m
Monday 23-Aug 2-4 p.m
Thursday 26-Aug 12 – 2p.m
Friday 27-Aug 6-8 p.m
Saturday 28-Aug 2 – 4 p.m
Monday 30-Aug 2 – 4 p.m
Saturday 4-Sep 2 – 4 p.m
Wednesday 8-Sep 6 – 8 p.m
Saturday 11-Sep 2 – 4 p.m
Saturday 2-Oct 2 – 4 p.m
Wednesday 6-Oct 6 – 8 p.m
Saturday 9-Oct 2- 4 p.m
Saturday 16-Oct 2 – 4 p.m

Even though some of these dates are quite a ways in the future, please
consider signing up your scout for one or more slots. Click on the
link below to enter your choices:

Elder Beerman Fundraiser

Elder Beerman is allowing Pack 381 to come to their store and sell their coupon books for $5.00 each. From the sale of each coupon book, the scouts will get $3.00 in their scout account and $2.00 will go to the pack. We have 2-hour blocks that the boys can sig up for. We can have two boys per shift and MUST have one parent per child present so we will have 2 boys and 2 parents at all times. The boys must be in uniform and parents are asked to avoid wearing jeans. If the younger boys want to split the shift and have two boys do one hour each, that’s fine but we must have the full two hours covered.

If we make the top tier we can be in the store the day of the Sale (February 27) and we would get a percentage of the register sales.

Please contact Dawn Newman to sign up for a slot at 810.599.3180. The available slots are listed below.
