Our first camping event of the year is all set for Saturday, May 19 at Kensington MetroPark in Milford. Details are as follows:

WHO: Everyone, whether you’re a seasoned tent camper or completely new
to camping!

WHEN: Saturday, May 19th. We will have our opening flag ceremony,
awards and skits to be performed at 7:00p on Saturday, but feel free
to come earlier, at whatever time works best for your family. (We will
be reserving our site Friday morning, so you could actually camp two
nights instead of one, if you are so inclined.)

WHERE: We’re hoping to secure Site #4 at the Group Campsite at
Kensington MetroPark, but we won’t know until Friday morning if we are
able to get that particular site. Please watch your email for
confirmation of the site number, or just show up and look for our Pack
381 banner.

WHAT: Rustic tent camping (no RVs or campers). Each family is
responsible for bringing all of their own camping gear and all of
their own food. You many also bring bikes, rollerblades, etc. but keep
in mind that Kensington has an ordinance that requires users of any
wheeled apparatus to wear a helmet.

It should be lots of fun!

Our very first Pinewood Derby workshop was a hit. We had about 15 scouts show up with a square block of wood. They left with the beginnings of a derby car that they can race on March 24th. Blue and Gold 2012 was a great success. We sent our Webelo II scouts off to Boy Scouts, but before they left us, we got one last photo of the entire group.

We’re firming up plans for our first-ever Pinewood Derby workshop. If you’d like to get help building your scout’s car, please join us. Help us get an idea of how many people to expect by RSVP-ing at the link below.

Pack 381′s 2nd Space Derby will be held at Ore Creek Elementary in the Commons. The address of the school is 3250 N. Hartland Rd.in Hartland.

Rocket check-in is at 6:00p and the derby begins at 6:30p.

Rockets will be judged and awards will be given in the following categories:
Most Patriotic, Most Colorful, Most Futuristic, Best Scouting Theme

Food: We won’t be serving a meal, just snacks as outlined below
Den 1 – Please bring fruit
Den 2 – Please bring dessert
Dens 3 & 4 – Please bring salty snacks
Den 5 – Please bring vegetables to munch on
Den 6 – Please bring dips for the fruit, veggies or salty snacks
Dens 7 & 8 – Please bring a variety of beverages

If you don’t have your space derby kit yet, please track down your den leader. The kit will not include the rubber bands – we hand those out at the race. Please note that the maximum rocket length is 7 inches. No other materials other than what is in your kit should be added to the rocket.
